R-Stamp Code Welding and
Pressure Vessel Repairs

With R-stamp-accredited pressure vessels, we weld and repair vessels according to the standards set by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). Holding S and U ASME certifications for working on pressure vessels and power boilers. We continue to work with Virginia Tech, UVA, VCU WestRock, Dominion Energy and many others.

Our boiler repairs at Virginia Tech involved cutting and removing or replacing sections of tubes from their older boilers and welding in new replacements ( dutchman process). The team at Waco has effectively maintained these boilers for the past 25 years.

HVAC

Waco provides HVAC system fabrication, installation, replacement, and renovation services for commercial and industrial facilities, as well as schools like Virginia Tech, University of Virginia, Virginia State University, Longwood University, and John Tyler Community College.

Repairs at Longwood required us to completely remove a failing HVAC system and install new units. The installation was both energy-efficient and cost-effective for the institution. These new systems utilized both thermostats and an extensive controls program to individually control each unit.

Water and Wastewater Treatment

Waco has extensive experience upgrading or constructing facilities ranging in value from $200,000 to $10 million. We have a dedicated experienced staff of managers, estimators, superintendents and mechanics that know how to work with engineers, owners and municipalities. We keep up to date on new technologies and can offer a wealth of experience when a new installation or upgrade is considered.

At one of our projects a wastewater treatment facility, Waco installed Protecto-Lite fiberglass covers over top of two clarifiers to reduce peak summertime cleanings from once per week to about twice each quarter. We also installed new piping and scum covers in the plant’s solids separation process section. Both of these installments resulted in significant cost savings and odor reduction for the facility.

Structural Steel

Waco has an in-house team of experienced structural steel ironworkers to build construction project components. We work on:

• Steel beams for pipe or equipment support

In 2018, two cooling towers and their accompanying steel framework on the rooftop of the 19-story Richmond City Hall had deteriorated to the point that they needed replacing. Waco disconnected the electrical systems and piping, and then dismantled, removed, and disposed of the old components. In their place, we fabricated and galvanized a new steel frame and mounted two new cooling towers to it with welded piping and fittings. Around the clock work was required on weekends and evenings with road closings kept to a minimum to reduce any traffic disruption in this busy section of the city.

Industrial Equipment Installation and Alignment

At Waco, we offer a comprehensive array of specialized construction services, including rigging and setting of tanks, vessels, chillers, pumps, boilers, fans and various other specialized manufacturing equipment. . Laser alignment and leveling allow us to properly install equipment and minimize vibrations and other problems that would otherwise lead to equipment failure.

At the Veolia Spruance Plant, Waco dismantled and removed select components of a coal-burning cogeneration power station and replaced them with natural gas-burning, high efficiency, low carbon generating components. The project encompassed upgrades to the boilers, burners, high pressure steam piping and valves, ID fans, economizers, and other combustion air distribution elements.
