Mold / IAQ

Mold and the indoor air quality issues caused by the spread of mold spores can cause a variety of health problems. Quite often, by the time mold is discovered, the damage can be severe due to the extended period of moisture intrusion. Mold especially feeds on items high in cellulose like wood, paper, drywall, and natural fibers – all of which are major components of building products. Determining the root cause of the moisture is critical when trying to prevent mold reoccurrence.

How To Ensure That a Facility Has Good Indoor Air Quality

  • Evaluate the whole system
  • Ensure proper ventilation
  • Determine methods for bringing in and treating outdoor air
  • Repair and maintain structures ( roof, basement, crawl space ) on a regular basis
  • Do proper filtration and cleaning programs
  • Education: Learn how to discover issues that can lead to moisture and mold problems

Waco, Inc. is your trusted source for quick and efficient removal and treatment of mold and mildew infestations in your home and workplace.

Industrial Cleaning

The daily operations of many industrial facilities results in the dispersion of by-products or contaminants.  The chronic build-up of oily films, powdery chemical dust, dirt, and grime can clog or restrict exhaust vents, fume hoods, mist collectors, paint spray booths, vessels, and other equipment. Stairwells, walkways, and shafts can also be obstructed, causing additional health and safety issues.

Benefits of Industrial Cleaning

Clean areas can result in the following:

  • Increased manufacturing productivity
  • Reduced workplace accidents
  • Decreased fire hazards and employee health concerns
  • Improved employee retainage
  • Reduction in insurance claims and possible reduction on premiums
  • Improved facility aesthetics

Duct Cleaning

Maintaining clean and efficient ductwork involves more than just changing air filters. Pollutants, dust, dander, insects, and other contaminants can build up to an unsanitary level, requiring a scheduled duct cleaning program.

Waco’s skilled environmental team has years of successful duct cleaning experience using the patented ROTOBRUSH (™) air duct system. This innovative process removes dirt, dust, and pollutants without chemical additives and provides a clean and efficient duct system ready for operation as soon as the job is completed. It is safe for both residential and commercial applications.

PCB Ballasts, Fluorescent Tubes, and Hazardous Waste

Lighting ballasts manufactured prior to 1979 may contain Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs), which are known carcinogens. Fluorescent tubes and Compact Fluorescent Lights ( CFLs) contain mercury, which, if released, can be absorbed through the lungs or washed into local waterways. The EPA regulates the disposal of these potentially toxic substances.

Waco can safely remove and properly dispose of old PCB-containing ballasts and fluorescent tubes and fixtures. We can also address your hazardous wastes, lab packs, and other chemical disposal issues, all done in accordance with the Toxic Substances Control Act. Call Waco for a free proposal to safely remove your hazardous wastes.

Animal Waste Cleanup

Accumulations of the bat, rodent, or bird excrement in buildings can be a medium for the development of pathogenic fungi. These fungi are known to cause cryptococcosis or histoplasmosis. Both of these diseases are potentially fatal and attack the lungs and central nervous system, with symptoms that can develop years after initial contact. Buildings infested with animal excrement should be decontaminated upon discovery of the problem. Decontamination should be performed in conjunction with efforts to prevent further infestation.

Waco can clean up your problem areas, eliminate animal entry points and reduce the potential for harmful health effects. Waco’s Environmental Services are available throughout Virginia, Maryland, the District of Columbia, North Carolina, and West Virginia. We have the necessary equipment, personnel, and expertise to respond quickly and finish your Environmental Project on budget and on time!
